The automatic car is driven by following these steps:^[٣]

• First: Make sure the sitting position is appropriate; So that the driver can easily reach the brakes and the accelerator pedal.
• Second: check the position of the side and interior mirrors; So that the driver can observe the roads by only moving the eyes without the need to move the head.
• Third: Make sure the transmission is in the P position and the handbrake is lifted up, then the car key is placed in its intended place in order to start the engine, so that it is moved up.
• Fourth: Use the right leg only while driving. For the brakes to be applied first, the transmission is moved to position D, then the handbrake is lowered.
• Fifth: by gradually lifting the right foot from the brakes, the car thus becomes able to move, then the right foot is placed on the fuel exchanger; So the more fuel is trampled, the faster the car becomes.
• Fifth: The car is slowed down by pressing the brake with the right foot instead of the fuel pedal.

• NOT: This is the first letter of the word Neutral, and this mode is used to move the car and stop it in a stable neutral position.
• R: This is the first letter of the word Reverse, and this position is used to reverse the car.
• D: This is the first letter of the word Drive, and this position is used to move the wheel of the car forward. When the driver presses the fuel pedal and the transmission is placed in position D, the car moves forward.

Many cars also have other options depending on the number of automatic transmission gears, as follows:^[٣]

• D3 or 3: This mode is useful for the car running in one of the first, second or third gears; While the speed of the car is determined and change between these modes without shifting to fourth gear.
• D2 or 2: This mode is designed so that the vehicle only operates in 1st or 2nd gear.
• D1, 1 or L: In this mode, the car only drives in first gear.
• Overdrive, OD or O/D OFF: This mode is limited in cars and is used to delay shifting in transmissions and also reduces transmission temperature rise.^[٤]

General rules when driving an automatic car

The following steps should be followed when driving an automatic car:^[٣]

• When the engine is running, the transmission should be set to position P.
• If the gearshift position is on P, the gearshift is shifted to R position in order to reverse the car without going through N position.
• If the gearbox is in position N and the driver wants to reverse; The gear can be shifted to position R so that the driver makes sure that the car is in a state of complete stability by pressing the brake pedal, and in this case there will be no movement in the car, after which the gear is changed to the R position and the car actually begins to reverse, just as it You can press the accelerator pedal to increase the reverse speed.
• If the gearbox is in position P and the car is intended to be forwards; In this case, the gear must be moved directly to position D via positions R and N.
• If the transmission is in position N and the car is intended to be moved forward; This can be done by shifting the gear directly into position D.
• In the event that the car is reversing and the car is in position D, it must be ensured that the car is stationary and never moving, so that it is in a completely stable position, before passing the speed from D to N and then to R.
• When passing traffic and parking lights on them, position N can be used for a long period of time; So that no pressure builds up on the gearbox, engine and brakes.
• If the driver wants to park the car between a group of cars, the gearbox can be put in position P so that the car does not move.
